ADVANCED BLADES BRIDGE PROGRAM

inspired by:

For the beginning competitive skater

Brooklyn Blades on Ice this is pleased to announce our Advanced Blades Bridge Program. This program is designed to encourage Basic Skills and Freeskate level skaters to compete in local Basic Skills competitions and provide them with an opportunity for more individualized instruction.

• Who is eligible to participate?

Skaters who are currently enrolled in our Advanced Blades Program (Basic 5 through Freeskate 6) and who are not currently taking lessons from a private instructor.

• When is the Bridge Program offered?
The Bridge Program is offered immediately following Friday Advanced Blades classes, from 6:00pm to 6:30pm.

• How much does the Bridge Program cost?

The Bridge Program is the same cost as a regular 8-week Learn-To-Skate class: $25.00 for Brooklyn Residents and $40.00 for Non-residents. There is no additional fee for private lessons that are taken during the Bridge Program.

• How is the Bridge Program structured?

The Bridge Program is designed to run like a regular "Figure Skating Club" session. Skaters will be assigned an instructor to work with for the 8 week session. During the half hour session, skaters will receive a 15 minute private lesson and have the other 15 minutes to practice what they've learned. Skaters who choose to participate in any of the 4 Basic Skills Competitions this season will be able to use this time to prepare a routine with their instructor for the competition.

• What are the benefits to participating in the Bridge Program?

The Bridge Program allows skaters to try out private instruction without having to make a big financial commitment. Skating is an expensive sport, and many skaters and their families would like to give private instruction a "test run" before they commit to such an expense. This program will allow skaters to do just that.

• What if my child really likes taking private lessons and wants to do more?

As any skating coach will tell you, private instruction is the way to go if you really want your child to progress in the sport, especially if your child has aspirations to compete. If your child wants to advance their skating skills, the next step is to join the Brooklyn Figure Skating Club as a full U.S. Figure Skating member and set up time with a private lesson instructor to take more lessons! If you have questions about how to do this, just ask your instructor or GraceAnn or Elizabeth!
